New jobs and better patient care are coming to the city of Apopka.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday morning for the future location of Florida Hospital Apopka, which will be relocated to the intersection of Harmon and Ocoee Apopka roads.

The new location offers access to major roads, which will make it easier for staff and patients.

Administrators said the facility will have more operating rooms and staff. Approximately 300 new jobs will be created.

The hospital will also go from treating 30 patients a day to over 100.

“We are very excited to incorporate CREATION Health principles, which really promotes a happy and a healthy life and one of those important factors is our environment and we are excited to have this hospital on a hillside where we can put our patents at ease as they are entering our campus,” said Jennifer Wandersleben, the hospital’s vice president.

Florida Hospital Apopka has been providing care for over 40 years.

Construction on the new facility should be completed by spring of 2017.
