A Los Angeles-based psychic was arrested earlier this week after officials said she scammed a Brevard County resident out of more than $220,000 by claiming she could win money, lose weight and remove a spell that was allegedly placed on the victim's children.

Agents with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office's Economics Crime Task Force, with the assistance of the Los Angeles County Fugitive Unit, located and arrested 24-year-old Anna Marie Adams. She was taken into custody Monday on an outstanding warrant out of Brevard County for exploitation of the elderly, scheme to defraud and criminal use of personal identification.

Adams, who claims to be a psychic, lives in Los Angeles, and had befriended a Brevard County resident who traveled to California in the spring of 2013.

When the victim returned to Brevard County, Adams continued to communicate with the victim through phone conversations and text messages.

Deputies said Adams preyed on the victim's vulnerability because of age and serious medical conditions.

In addition to exploiting more than $220,000, Adams used the victim’s personal information to purchase a BMW 640i valued at more than $93,000, deputies said.

Adams is currently incarcerated in the Los Angeles County Jail and awaits extradition back to Brevard County.
