School could be starting earlier than usual this fall.

Districts are considering bumping the start date next school year to Aug. 10.

Lawmakers in Tallahassee are currently debating the measure.

Florida law said schools can't open any earlier than 14 days before Labor Day.

But this year, Labor Day is later and districts said they won't be able to fit in end-of-semester tests in time for winter break.

The bill will not require districts to change the start time. Each one will decide what's best for students and go from there.
