Darden Restaurants will lay off 30 employees at its Orlando-based headquarters, the company confirmed Tuesday.

Darden is the parent company of popular restaurant chains Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse and Bahama Breeze.

The eliminated positions are across various levels of the company, said Rich Jeffers, director of communications for Darden.

"We did eliminate 30 positions (Monday) across varying levels throughout the organization in order to create a flatter support structure and give leaders more visibility into their organizations," Jeffers said in an email.

Impacted individuals were told in person.

"These are difficult decisions, and we don't take them lightly," Jeffers said, adding that they will receive severance pay and related benefits.
