Matthew Apperson, the man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman Monday, has been arrested.

Lake Mary police arrested Apperson Friday on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and one count of firing a deadly missile into a vehicle.

In the arrest report, officers said Apperson appeared to be fixated with Zimmerman.

The arrest report stated that Apperson told the cops that Zimmerman pulled a gun at him while he was driving and said ‘I’m going to kill you.”

But Zimmerman told Lake Mary police he never threatened Apperson, and police believed him.

In fact, Zimmerman told police Apperson threatened him, yelling, “You owe me your life. The only reason I didn’t press charges on you is because I wanted to kill you myself.”

Apperson turned himself in Friday. He's being held without bond.

Apperson's attorney Mark NeJame issued the following statement:

"We received word a couple of hours ago from the Lake Mary Police Department that a warrant had been issued for the arrest of Matt Apperson. We immediately scheduled for him to meet with law enforcement so he could be arrested and booked. He has done so. There are 3 counts; Aggravated Battery w a Firearm, Aggravated Assault w a Firearm and Shooting into an occupied vehicle. Bond is set at $35,000 and his release has been arranged.

"We expected this as Mr. Apperson, under the advice of counsel and exercising his Constitutional right did not provide additional statements to law enforcement. He had already made statements and this is deemed sufficient, as of now. Mr. Zimmerman apparently did make statements and as such, it appears a decision was made to arrest on the basis of Mr. Zimmerman's statements. That is neither unusual nor was it unexpected.

"The case will proceed through the criminal justice system appropriately and ultimately a determination will be made as what truly happened. Mr. Apperson will continue not to comment until such time as it may be deemed appropriate."

Police said Apperson fired at Zimmerman's truck along Lake Mary Boulevard Monday near Rinehart Road.

Zimmerman wasn't hit by gunfire, but he was sprayed with glass as a bullet flew through the vehicle's window and narrowly missed his head, according to his attorney, Don West.

West said Zimmerman was in town for Mother's Day and was on his way to the doctor when he noticed Apperson following him. He made a U-Turn, and Apperson followed, West said. Then, he said, he caught up with Zimmerman and pulled along side his truck and fired a bullet into the side window.

Lake Mary police said they found two handguns inside Apperson's vehicle: a .40-caliber Glock 22 and a 357 revolver. Detectives also recovered one expended shell casing in the revolver's cylinder.

A Glock 22 handgun was recovered from Zimmerman during the course of the investigation, but detectives have not yet conducted a search of his truck.

Apperson is the same man who claimed Zimmerman threatened to kill him in September 2014. Apperson said Zimmerman asked him, "Do you know who I am?" during that road confrontation. No charges were filed in the September incident.

This is just the latest troubling incident for Zimmerman, who was acquitted in 2013 of the murder of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

In January a woman told Lake Mary police that Zimmerman threw a bottle at her during an argument. She later recanted the claim.

In 2013, Zimmerman was arrested in Apopka for a domestic incident involving his girlfriend. That girlfriend later recanted the claim that Zimmerman pointed a shotgun at her. Charges were dropped.
