Some St. Petersburg firefighters are getting praise after saving a woman who passed out during a 911 call inside of a burning home.

"Every situation is different, nothing is ever the same," said St. Pete firefighter/EMT Eldridge Adras.

Adras, Troy Reeves and Lt. Ehren Hollenback responded to Cheryl Hatch’s 911 call for a fire at her home. While she was on the phone with dispatch, she passed out from all of the smoke.

“The only thing we could hear was the phone, the dial tone of the phone being dead," said St. Pete firefighter/EMT Troy Reeves.

The firefighters were able to use thermal imaging to find and get Cheryl out of the burning home. She said she only remembers the moments before she passed out and the men who saved her from the second floor of her St. Petersburg home.

“I saw flames and I thought I was going to die because I was upstairs,” said Cheryl Hatch.

On Saturday, Cheryl was able to meet the men who saved her and thanked them for their heroic efforts.

"It feels good,” said Lt. Hollenback. “We made a difference in someone's life and she can be here for family and friends."

"For somebody to say 'hey, thanks for doing this, thanks for helping me out,' it puts a smile on your face and sometimes you need that," said Reeves.

Cheryl lost al her belongings in the fire. You can help her on her GoFundMe page.
