Gov. Rick Scott came to Orlando to award medals to more than 200 veterans.

Each veteran received the Governor's Veterans Service Award for serving in the military over the past six decades.

"It's always a great day when you get to honor veterans," Scott said.

The ceremony was held at the Ferncreek Armory. During the ceremony, Scott highlighted the service of Florida Veteran Sgt. Odell Barbe and Staff Sgt. Mark Forsythe.

"I think it's important to thank all of our veterans, especially our Vietnam veterans," he said.

The application for the award is available to all military veterans who were honorably discharged.
