And now, a raccoon standing on top of an alligator.

A Central Florida man visiting managed to snap this once-in-a-lifetime photo while visiting Ocala National Forest on Saturday.

Richard Jones said he and his family were walking along the Ocklawaha River watching some gators Saturday morning, when his son went through some palm fronds to get a better view and ended up frightening a nearby raccoon.

Jones said the raccoon stumbled toward the water and ended up hopping on top of a gator's back, and he was able to snap the lucky shot just before the gator slipped into the water and the raccoon jumped off its back and scurried away.

"Without the context, you'd think the raccoon was hitching a ride across the river," Jones said in an email to our news desk. "Pretty amazing. Definitely the photo of a lifetime."

Jones, from Palatka, also included a photo his wife took of the area.
