An Air Force airmen from the Panhandle was one of two airmen killed in Afghanistan Wednesday.

The Department of Defense Staff Sgt. Forrest B. Sibley, 31, of Pensacola, Florida and Capt. Matthew D. Roland, 27, of Lexington, Kentucky were both killed when the vehicle they were traveling in was attacked near Camp Antonik, Afghanistan.

They were in Afghanistan supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel.

Sibley was assigned to the 21st Special Tactics Squadron located at Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina.

Roland was assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron located at Hurlburt Field, Florida.
