The Gibsonton house fire that left one man dead was occupied by a family during the blaze that destroyed the mobile home, the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue told Bay News 9.

The home on 11608 East Bay Rd. suffered extensive damage, and it was gutted when the fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. Monday, the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.

When fire crews arrived on scene they saw that the home was engulfed in flames. Except for the man who died in the fire, the rest of the family was able to make it out.

There is no word on how many people were in the mobile home or the identity of the man who died.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office stated that the homeowner was out of town when the fire started.
