Toyota has issued a recall of its Toyota Prius sedan amid reports of a potentially defect involving the parking brake.

  • 92,000 Prius models recalled
  • 2016 and 2017 models
  • Parking brake can become inoperative, causing the vehicle to roll away

The company is recalling 92,000 models from 2016 and 2017 in the U.S.

According to a news release, the parking brake could become inoperative, causing the vehicle to roll away and increasing the risk of a crash.

In a statement, Toyota said dealers will “add clips on the top of the brake cable dust boots to prevent the cable from becoming inoperative.”

Toyota will notify owners with affected vehicles starting in November. Repairs will be made at no cost to customers.
