Flight Delays/Cancellations

Update: All flights at Orlando International Airport (MCO) have been cancelled for Friday. Officials hope to gradually resume flight schedules Saturday morning.  

Orlando-Melbourne International Airport (MLB) is back to full operations, according to Brevard County Emergency Management. Flights have resumed normal schedule.

Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) has announced it will cease domestic commercial flights at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6. International commercial flights will cease at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6.

Health Care Facilities/Hospitals

Centra Care will be operating under a temporary schedule for the 30 locations below:

East Region (Flagler and Volusia County locations): 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

TURNPIKE SERVICE PLAZA CLOSURES

 

Florida’s Turnpike has begun the phased closure of at least seven Turnpike service plazas, beginning with the southernmost facilities Snapper Creek (Milepost 19) and Pompano Beach (Milepost 65). Those two plazas closed at noon, then others will close in succession moving north in advance of Hurricane Matthew.
 
Under the schedule, which may be adjusted based upon Matthew’s progress, the Turnpike’s plazas will cease operation at the following (Approximate) times, unless storm conditions dictate otherwise:

Post Office Closures

 

As Hurricane Matthew approaches Florida, the Suncoast District of the U. S. Postal Service (USPS) has announced suspension of additional delivery and retail operations. Post Offices with ZIP Codes beginning with the first three digits 329, not listed on the previous press release, and 321, will close at 3:00 p.m. today and mail delivery will stop at 3 p.m. today.

The Orlando Post Offices listed below will close at 5:00 p.m. Thursday:

All Post Offices in ZIP Code areas beginning with 321, 327, 328, 329, 338 and 347 will be closed on Friday, October 7, 2016 and mail will not be delivered.  All Post Offices in the Suncoast District are scheduled to resume normal business hours on Saturday, October 8 and mail delivery will resume.

State Facilities/Offices/Services

The Florida Department of Transportation has announced that SunRail service throughout Central Florida will be suspended on Thursday, Oct. 6 in the afternoon. The last southbound train will leave DeBary (Volusia County) at noon, while the last northbound train will leave Sand Lake (Orange County) at 1:15 p.m.

Service will NOT resume Friday, Oct 7 or Saturday, Oct. 8. FDOT and SunRail partners will work following the storm to identify a date when service can resume.

The state of Florida has announced that state offices in the following counties will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7:

Baker, Brevard, Broward, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Glades, Hendry, Highlands, Indian River, Lake, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Nassau, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Polk, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie and Volusia.

All state government facilities, including all Department of Management Services pool facilities located in the counties listed above will be closed on Oct. 6 and 7.

Brevard County

Launch Federal Credit Union (FCU) has announced that all its branches will remain closed until Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The Melbourne PRS Social Security Hearing office will be closed from Wednesday, Oct. 5 through Thursday, Oct. 6 and will re-open late on Friday, Oct. 7.

Melbourne Square will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, and remain closed on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. The mall expects to reopen on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m.

Brevard County commissioners announced that the following libraries in the county library system closed at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 5:

Florida Tech's scheduled football game versus North Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. has been CANCELED. In addition, all weekend athletic events at Florida Tech have been suspended starting Wednesday, Oct. 5 until Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The Orlando VA Medical Center is closing its Viera and Daytona Beach-based VA Clinics effective Thursday, Oct. 6 through Saturday, Oct. 8.

The closure means VA medical services will not be available at those locations until Tuesday, Oct. 11, due to the Columbus Day federal holiday Oct. 10. The decision also closes the Port Orange Psychosocial Recovery & Rehabilitation Center (PRRC) on South Clyde Morris Blvd.

The Orange City VA Clinic will close on Friday, Oct. 7 and remain closed until Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Kennedy Space Center closed at 1 p.m. Wednesday, and essential personnel are preparing the facilities for the arrival of Hurricane Matthew.

KSC Visitor Center will also be closed Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. Visitor Complex officials anticipate re-opening Saturday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. after a thorough assessment of the property has been completed.

Due to Hurricane Matthew, the Brevard Zoo has announced that it will be closed Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. The zoo currently plans to re-open on Saturday, but that may change due to the aftermath of the storm.

The annual Networking on the Green Golf Tournament scheduled for this Friday, Oct. 7 at the Great Outdoors in Titusville has been postponed. The tournament will take place Friday, Oct. 28. For more information, please contact the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce office at 321-267-3036.

Palm Bay Parks & Recreation will be closed Thursday and Friday, Oct. 6-7.

Flagler County

Flagler County offices will be closed on Friday to allow staff to work in an emergency capacity.

The Flagler County Public Library will close at 5 p.m. Thursday and re-open Monday morning. The Tax Collector's walk-up window will be open Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until noon with limited services offered -- no picture identification will be processed. The Property Appraiser's Office will be open and fully staffed until noon Thursday.

Waste Pro will have regular garbage collection on Thursday, but will not make pick-ups again until Monday.

The Flagler County Clerk of Courts offices will be closed Thursday and Friday with the exception of first appearances. Regular courthouse operations will resume Monday.

National Night Out, an annual crime prevention event that was planned for Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Flagler Beach has been canceled.

Soda With A Cop, which was planned for Friday, Oct. 7, 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m., at the Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Palm Coast has been canceled.

Lake County

The City of Mascotte has suspended garbage collection services for Friday, Oct. 7. Services will take place Saturday, Oct. 8 instead. Residents are asked to keep the carts in a secure place until after the storm has passed.

Marion County

The City of Ocala has announced the following closures on Friday, Oct. 7:

  • All business offices
  • All city recreation and senior centers
  • All city parks
  • Discovery Center
  • City Municipal Services Complex, including City Hall and the Citizen Service Center (Utility Billing and Building Departments)

In addition, Friday's commercial sanitation routes in Ocala have been canceled. Friday's routes will be collected Saturday, weather and conditions permitting.

The Social Security Hearing office in Ocala will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 6 through Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Orange County

The ceremony featuring Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer to rededicate the Orlando Fire Museum to the late Deputy Chief Randall R. Tuten has been postponed. A new date has not been determined.

APOPKA - Crews this afternoon are scheduled to close Connector Road to through traffic at State Road 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway) near US 441.  This will prevent travel under the new bridge, built as part of the Wekiva Parkway (State Road 429), during high winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Matthew. The intersection will remain closed until the storm passes and the condition of the work zone has been assessed.
 
No through traffic will be allowed on the Connector Road at SR 429. The SR 429 northbound left-turn lanes at the Connector Road will be closed. The SR 429 northbound right-turn lane onto the Connector Road will remain open to provide access to Plymouth Sorrento Road and US 441.
 
Motorists on Plymouth Sorrento Road who wish to go south on SR 429 must turn right onto US 441, and then turn right onto the Connector Road to access the southbound SR 429 ramp.

Orlando Health announced that all Orlando Health physician practices will close at noon on Thursday, Oct. 6 and remain closed Friday, Oct. 7. This includes:

  • Orlando Health Physician Group
  • Orlando Health Physician Associates
  • Orlando Health Pediatric Associates
  • Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Specialty Practices
  • Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies Specialty Practices

Each office will contact patients whose appointments must be changed to reschedule at a later date.

Orlando Health expects to re-open and resume normal operations on Monday, Oct. 10.

Nemours Children's Health Systems announced that the following locations will be closed on Thursday and Friday:

  • All Central Florida Nemours Children's Primary Care locations
  • All Central Florida Nemours Children's Specialty Care locations
  • All Central Florida Nemours Children's Urgent Care locations EXCEPT

Nemours Children's Urgent Care in Melbourne will close Wednesday evening and remain closed Thursday, Oct. 6.

Operating hours for Friday, Oct. 7 will be determined based on conditions on Friday.

The Orange County Library System will close tomorrow at 1 p.m. and remain closed through Friday, Oct. 7. Officials are hopeful library locations can re-open on Saturday morning with normal business hours.

Orlando "Come Out with Pride" events scheduled for Thursday and Friday, including the Thursday Night Launch Party at the Abbey and the Friday Night Church Street Block Party, have both been canceled.

Come Out with Pride events scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8 are still on track to proceed as planned.

The Garth Brooks concerts at Amway Center on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7 have been rescheduled as follows:

  • The Thursday, Oct. 6 show has been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.
  • The Friday, Oct. 7 show has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.
  • Shows previously scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. will go on as scheduled. PLEASE make sure to check your tickets and attend the correct show. Due to the nature of back-to-back shows, door times may be delayed.

The Social Security Hearing office in Orlando will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 6 through Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The Orange County Property Appraiser's Office will be closed Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. The office expects to re-open on Monday, Oct. 10.

Spooky Empire, Orlando's horror and film convention, says it will be canceling events for the weekend due to Hurricane Matthew. Orange County Convention Center, where the convention is being held, will be closed Friday. Find more information on Spooky Empire website.

The Mall at Millenia will close Thursday at 3 p.m. and will reopen Saturday.

Orlando Fashion Square has closed and is scheduled to reopen for regular hours Saturday.

Whole Foods Market announced that its locations in Orlando and Winter Park will be closing at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6. In addition, the Altamonte Springs location in Seminole County will also close at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Operating hours for Friday, Oct. 7 will be announced on the company's social media accounts.

Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph has announced that the Orange County Tax Collector's Office, including all seven tag agencies and the Property and Business Tax departments, will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. Friday's previously scheduled office-wide blood drive with OneBlood will be rescheduled. The office expects to be re-open to the public on Monday, October 10.

All Orange County Clerk of Courts offices will be closed Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. This follows the 9th Judicial Circuit's decision to cancel all court proceedings for the next two days. The Clerk of Courts expects to re-open on Monday, Oct. 10.

The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and City of Winter Park jointly announced that the 43rd annual Autumn Arts Festival, set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 8 and Sunday, Oct. 9, has been canceled. Due to the massive amount of planning and logistics involved in putting on the festival, it will NOT be rescheduled for 2016.

The Park Avenue Sidewalk Sale will continue as planned from Thursday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 9. Store hours and participation may vary.

The Roth Family Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando in Maitland has announced that it will be closed Thursday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 9. The closure affects all programs, including preschool, after school programs, the "Bye Bye Birdie" production, and all weekend programs.

Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando will be closing on Thursday, Oct. 6 at noon, and will remain closed all day Friday, Oct. 7. The gardens plan to re-open Saturday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. pending any damage. The Leu House Museum in the middle of the gardens will be closed all day Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7.

SeaWorld has announced that SeaWorld Orlando and Discovery Cove will be closing at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 and will remain closed on Friday, Oct. 7. Aquatica Orlando will be closed tomorrow and Friday. Busch Gardens Tampa and Adventure Island are expected to be open as scheduled.

As Central Florida prepares for potential impacts from Hurricane Matthew, the Orange County Property Appraiser’s office is postponing our 2016 State of Orange County event scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort. A new date has not been set.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s Annual State of Downtown Address scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 5 has been postponed. A new date has not been set.

Osceola County

The city of Kissimmee has announced the following service changes, now in effect in advance of Hurricane Matthew:

  • All city offices will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. Offices are expected to re-open on Monday, Oct. 10.
  • Sandbags will continue to be made available on Thursday from 8 a.m. until noon. The city's bagging location is the corner of Mabbette Street & Alaska Avenue (across from the YMCA). Residents are limited to 12 bags per household, with photo ID required -- City of Kissimmee residents only.
  • Residential trash collection and recycling services will be suspended for Friday, Oct. 7. No make-up day has been scheduled -- normal collections will resume on the next normally scheduled service day.
  • All outdoor events and activities scheduled through Saturday, Oct. 8 have been canceled, and all city parks and community centers will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Polk County

The Florida Department of Health announced it is closing its offices in Polk County on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 6. They expect to resume normal operating hours on Monday, Oct. 10.

With the threat of Hurricane Matthew on Florida this weekend, the following Southeastern University contests have been postponed.

Seminole County

City of Casselberry garbage collection will remain on its regular schedule on Thursday, but will be canceled for Friday. Residents whose garbage/recycling day is Friday are asked to not place their items at the curb. Keep cans and items in a secure place until the storm passes and place at the curb on your next regular pick-up day.

Beginning at noon on Thursday, Oct. 6, the Florida Forest Service will be closing all trail heads on the Charles H. Bronson and Little Big Econ State Forests. The trails will remain closed until a full safety and damage assessment has been completed after the storm passes.

Volusia County

Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis announced that the county's Elections Office will be closed along with other county offices on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct 7. Supervisor Lewis also asked that voters note the upcoming voter registration deadline -- the book closing date for the upcoming November 8, 2016 election is Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The Social Security Hearing office in Port Orange will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 6 through Monday, Oct. 10.

Halifax Humane Society in Daytona Beach will be closing Thursday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. and will remain closed through Friday, Oct. 7.

After 2 p.m. Thursday, they will only be operational for animals needing to be returned to owners due to the storm. In addition, they will not be evacuating for the storm at this time, but will take all proper measures to ensure the safety and comfort of animals in their care.

There will be no residential or commercial trash pickup on Friday, Oct. 7, and there will be no "make-up" day. Normal trash pickups will occur on Thursday, Oct. 6.

All county Leisure Services programs and activities have been canceled from Wednesday, Oct. 5 through Friday, Oct. 7.

Movies on the Halifax scheduled for Friday, Oct. 7 in Rockefeller Gardens has been canceled.
