Florida is one of the leading U.S. states in identity theft and fraud complaints per capita, according to personal finance website WalletHub.

Florida shares the top spot with Missouri, Connecticut, the District of Columbia in most identity theft complaints per capita, and it also tied D.C., Georgia and Michigan for the most fraud complaints per capita, the website said.

In order to rank where in the U.S. that residents are most likely to fall prey to identity theft, WalletHub looked at several metrics, including the identity theft and fraud complaints and average loss amounts and gave each state a score.

WalletHub ranked Florida third overall in the nation in those rankings.
