Investigators have located remains believed to be those of a woman who went missing last month from Ormond-by-the-Sea, the FBI said in a news release.
Rachael Lynn Madison was last seen on Nov. 27 at 1:30 p.m. near her family’s home.
U.S. Marshals arrested her estranged husband, Jarvis Madison, 58, Friday morning in Louisville, Ky.
According to the FBI, information gathered during the investigation led law enforcement teams to a remote area near Knoxville, Tenn. The remains were found Friday evening in an area off Interstate 40.
Evidence gathered at the site will processed to determine if the remains belong to Rachael Madison, investigators said. The FBI has notified her family.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone in the FBI are with Ms. Madison’s family, and we remain committed to finding answers through our ongoing investigation,” said Charles P. Spencer, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Jacksonville Division.
The investigation remains ongoing.
