An Orange City man faces aggravated assault and animal cruelty charges after deputies said he "maliciously" killed a squirrel after an argument with his brother over coffee.

According to Volusia County deputies, 44-year-old Shawn Gamber threatened his brother, 25-year-old Samuel, with a kitchen knife Wednesday morning if Samuel didn't get him a coffee at the home they shared in Orange City.
After the argument, Shawn walked out of the home and killed a squirrel in the backyard that he'd caught the day before.
Shawn Gamber was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and cruelty to animals. He was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail without incident.
Samuel Gamber was not injured.
