Two former space shuttle astronauts will be given a high honor soon.

Officials announced Monday that veteran astronauts Scott Parazynski and Brian Duffy will be inducted into the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame, joining the group of men and women who have served America's space program.

Parazynski flew on five shuttle flights, spacewalked seven times, and joined original Mercury astronaut John Glenn on his historic 1998 mission.

Duffy flew on four shuttle missions and commanded two of them.

The pair will be inducted in a ceremony held in the Heroes and Legends attraction at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on May 14.

U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction Process and Eligibility
Each year, inductees are selected by a committee of Hall of Fame astronauts, former NASA officials, flight directors, historians and journalists. The process is administered by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation. To be eligible, an astronaut must have made his or her first flight at least 17 years before their induction. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen and a NASA-trained commander, pilot or mission specialist who has orbited the earth at least once.*
