A Seminole County resident known to his neighbors as “Junkman” was arrested Wednesday.

Alan Davis was charged with felony littering and misdemeanor nuisance.

Last September deputies hauled several truckloads of trash from Davis’ home near Altamonte Springs. A crew spent nine hours cleaning the property, collecting a total of 31.49 tons of trash and debris.  Some of the items removed included refrigerators, metal, lumber, glass, dismantled auto parts and buckets of stagnant water.  Two junk vehicles were also removed from the property.

Neighbors have complained for decades about trash piling up on the property.

September’s cleanup led to the case being forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office—which eventually issued a warrant for Davis’ arrest.

Davis has said he has a constitutional right to keep items piled up on his property.

Deputies arrested Davis during a traffic stop, the Sheriff’s Office said.  He was also charged with driving with a suspended license.

Davis was taken to the John E Polk Correctional Facility in Seminole County on a $3,000 bond.
