Two Orange County teenagers have been arrested and accused of bringing a gun to school and showing it off on a video they posted on Snapchat.

The video was made in a school bathroom at Cypress Creek High School. Two male students, a 15-year-old and 17-year-old, posed in the school bathroom while pointing the gun right at the camera.

A fellow student saw that Snapchat video and showed their parent, who then called authorities.

But what was most alarming to students and parents we spoke to was that the teens were able to bring a loaded gun onto campus undetected.

“I think we should get metal detectors," student Nicole Lobelo said.

Students like Lobelo said more needs to be done to keep their school safe.

“You can’t stop what students do," Frances Rivas said. "I just hope I don’t get hurt along the way.”

“They posted a video and then they posted a picture of showing us that the gun was loaded," Lobelo said.

Cypress Creek High School Principal Dr. John McHale said he is assuring students and parents that their school is safe all thanks to their “See Something Say Something” campaign.

“We got an anonymous tip late yesterday afternoon and within five hours we were able to investigate and identify the two young men that have been arrested," McHale said. "They posed no threat at any time to our students or our campus.”

Whether the threat was real or played off as a joke, it has some students saying they no longer feel safe.

“School is supposed to be a safe zone and it’s just not happening," Lobelo said.

When asked if the school principal felt bag checks or metal detectors should be added to his school, he said that decision comes from the school district.

There was another incident in Orange County Monday at Olympia High School where a student was caught with a BB gun on campus.

Orange County Public School officials have not responded to questions about whether stronger security measures should be taken, but they say during the school day no other students felt threatened by these armed teens.
