Tropical Storm Colin is expected to dump several inches of rain, causing potential flooding and potential critter infestations.

  • Experts say rain and potential flooding could cause critter infestations
  • Small animals like snakes and turtles can make their way into your house

Nuisance animal trapper Bob Cross says high winds can blow squirrel and bird nests out of trees and into your front yard.

He says if the waters get high enough some animals, like snakes and turtles, can make their way into your house.

"All the holes as far as snakes are concerned, all the holes are going to fill up with water, all the lowlands are going to fill up and any hiding places snakes like to hide, they're not going to have those, so we are going to have more snakes on the move,” said Cross, who owns Critter Capture Services.

Cross says the best thing to do is to be aware of all the extra animal sightings, especially baby birds and squirrels.

He says tropical storm season always comes after the spring birth of Florida's wildlife.
