Quinnipiac University has released a new poll that puts Republican Donald Trump in the lead in a couple of swing states.

  • Donald Trump leads Hillary Clinton in Florida
  • Trump has 42% to Clinton's 39 percent
  • Experts say Clinton lost ground on the issue of honesty

Trump leads Democrat Hillary Clinton 42 to 39 percent in Florida, according to the poll.

According to experts, support for Clinton has dropped after she took a hit with voters on the issues of honesty and moral standards.

"While there is no definite link between Clinton's drop in Florida and the U.S. Justice Department decision not to prosecute her for her handling of e-mails, she has lost ground to Trump on questions which measure moral standards and honesty," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Clinton also finds herself in too-close-to call races in other critical swing states, according to the poll.

In Pennsylvania, Trump leads Clinton 43 to 41 percent. He has also narrowed the gender gap in the state.  Among women voters, Clinton leads 43 to 39 percent, but that’s down from her 50 to 34 percent lead in June.

Meanwhile, in Ohio, the two presidential candidates are neck-and-neck with 41 percent each.
