The Falcon 9 rocket launched on time at 1:26 a.m. Sunday from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

Less than 10 minutes after launch, the first stage booster landed.

Cheers erupted from SpaceX Mission Control as images came in of the booster.

The rocket and the ship will be brought back to land.

SpaceX hopes to reuse its rockets to help drive down the cost of launches.
