Although people may see black bears as cute and cuddly, they are highly unpredictable wild animals, Workman said, adding that four people were seriously injured by bears in Seminole County since 2012.

“FWC does not recommend anyone ever getting this close to a bear, or allowing a bear to get close to them as occurred in this video. We encourage Floridians to find out how they can live BearWise by properly securing their trash to help prevent human-bear interactions,” Workman said in the news release.

FWC’s bear biologists are conducting a site visit to keep the public informed and are also conducting bear trapping in the area because other reports of human-bear conflicts.

The Markham Woods area has an “abundant” bear population.
