A new interactive experience at the Kennedy Space Center is attracting some 'buzz."

  • Buzz Aldrin guide on new 'Destination Mars' experience
  • Virtual tour across Mars crafted from actual footage
  • Opens Monday and runs until Jan. 7

The new 'Destination Mars' exhibit allows guests to walk on the "Red Planet" all by the magic of holograph images. Using the Hololens by Microsoft, you’ll go on a virtual reality mission across the planet.

The coolest part? Buzz Aldrin himself is your guide.

The eight-minute virtual tour across Mars is crafted from actual footage NASA’s Curiosity rover took on the planet.

“Everything you see comes directly from our space craft. When you enter that room and put on those hololens you’ll see everything exactly as NASA does,” project manager Jeff Norris said.

The team behind the innovative experience, along with Buzz Aldrin, hope this new project will give the next generation the drive to pursue a career in space exploration.

“It’s my hope that experiences like 'Destination Mars' will inspire us all to do more and go further,” Aldrin said.

Destination Mars opens to the general public Monday for a limited time. The "launch window" to check out 'Destination Mars' ends January 7.
