A 59-year-old Orlando man was struck and killed by a pickup truck on Monday evening along John Young Parkway, the Florida Highway Patrol stated.

At about 6:55 p.m., 20-year-old Mason Pitzer of Longwood was driving his 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck on northbound John Young Parkway, at Consulate Drive, when Theodore Barnett "walked out into the direct path" of Pitzer's pickup truck, the FHP stated in its news release.

The front of the pickup truck hit the Orlando resident, troopers said.

Pitzer, of Longwood, was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.

Troopers are trying to determine whether Barnett was intoxicated. The crash remains under investigation.
