A Daytona Beach woman was killed in a crash Saturday morning, according to police.

  • Woman's vehicle veered into opposing traffic on Nova Road
  • She hit a tree and another vehicle before being ejected
  • A dog inside the vehicle ran from the crash

Crystal Duncan, 35, was traveling southbound on Nova Road at about 9 a.m. Investigators say her vehicle crossed the median and veered into the northbound lanes.

Duncan’s vehicle hit a palm tree and a car in the parking lot of a Toyota dealership on West International Speedway Boulevard before she was ejected.

Duncan was taken to Halifax Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Witnesses said Duncan had been driving fine before the crash.

Police say a dog, a red tick hound named Cooper, was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Cooper was last seen running northbound on Nova Road. According to investigators, he was wearing a red leash and harness.

Duncan’s son would love to get his dog back, police say.
