The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said it has video that shows Gary Paul Shimun going to a Daytona Beach hotel in December to meet up with an undercover deputy posing as a prostitute.

According to deputies, the video shows the 51-year-old entering the hotel room, and when the undercover deputy asks Shimun to lay out the money on the bed, Shimun walks out.

He was not arrested the same day. However, the State Attorney’s Office later filed charges.

Shimun resigned from his post as Daytona Beach deputy city manager.

On Friday, a judge sentenced Shimun to three months' supervised probation with 25 hours of community service, along with proof of an STD testing.

Shimun and his attorney had no comment.
