Some Marion County high school students got to witness a historic transfer of power from their classroom.

Friday afternoon, Belleview High School students got to spend the first half of their history class watching Donald Trump become the 45th president of the United States.

During Trump's inauguration speech, students listened closely but afterward had a lot to say.

"He was very repetitive, but he made very good points," Anthony Clemens said. "They were very vague, because a good magician never reveals his tricks, as one would say."

Many students said this was their first time watching an inauguration and were impressed to see the support for national unity.

"It was nice to see the peaceful transition of power, so I really liked that, and I liked that people came together," student Khloe Belle said.

"I thought he said things really well, and while it wasn't a super long speech, he got everything as he wanted to say," Lindsey Davis said. "I liked how he kept everything simple, but then again, he didn't bring in things that would start a fight because Obama was still there," Davis said.

Said Hannah Patton: "I'm definitely more scared for his presidency than excited."
