No officers were hurt or discharged their weapons, Orlando Police said on Twitter. Three people are in custody in connection to the shooting.

According to police, the Orlando Police sergeant came across the gun battle in the 800 block of West Jackson Street just after 3 p.m.

A black SUV took off from there, and the sergeant's vehicle was struck. A pursuit ensued, which ended with a wreck on Kirkman Road involving a black SUV and white van.

Four people inside the SUV were taken into custody, police said. One person in the van was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the people in the black SUV was found to have a gunshot wound and was hospitalized.

"These are the kinds of dangers that we face every day," said Orlando Police Sgt. Eduardo Bernal. "This is another stark example of how dangerous it really is and how reckless these actions that people take and how it puts everybody in danger not just us, but the public, anybody."

Southbound Kirkman Road was shut down near State Road 408 because of the incident. SWAT cleared the area on Jackson Street Wednesday evening, and no other suspects were found.
