Flager County Deputy Craig Rossi is recovering after an armed robbery suspect led deputies on a two-county chase, who then crashed into the deputy's patrol car, the Sheriff's Office said.

Officials say Palm Coast Taco Bell workers called 911 just before 1 a.m. Wednesday to report an attempted robbery.

Flagler deputies spotted the getaway car, and the driver then led them on a chase on Interstate 95 south into Volusia County.

Investigators say the chase ended when the driver, Jason Klokow, 37, crashed into Rossi's patrol car at U.S. 1 and Nova Road. His airbags deployed, and he suffered forearm and chest injuries.

Klokow was arrested after stop sticks were used to stop his vehicle. He is charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of fleeing law enforcement.

A passenger, Christopher McMillian, 28, ran off, but deputies caught him nearby and arrested him, the Sheriff's Office said.

Rossi is at home recovering after being treated at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach.

In Belle Isle, a motorcyclist attempted to run over Belle Isle Police officer late Tuesday night, the department said.

Officer Tren Trendafilov stopped the motorcyclist, William Rigoberto Rodriguez Muniz, 23, after he saw him pass vehicles in no-passing zones, according to a police report.

Rodriguez Muniz then allegedly attempted to drive toward the officer, but Trendafilov grabbed the handlebars, which caused the front wheel to hit his knee.

Trendafilov lost Rodriguez Muniz after he ran away but later identified him after police took a man into custody.

Rodriguez Muniz was charged with attempted homicide on a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting a law enforcement officer with violence.
