Stephen Duxbury is accused of raping and killing Sasha Samsudean at her downtown Orlando apartment two years ago.
A DNA expert took the stand Monday before the defense and prosecution rested their cases.
Last week wrapped up with testimony from crime scene investigation personnel, which involved them showing what the state said was evidence from the apartment, including a blood-stained blanket.
Duxbury faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted sexual battery and burglary.
Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty.
