A professional wrestler was arrested early Sunday in Gainesville for allegedly battering his wife, according to police.

  • Wrestler Rich Swann accused of battering wife
  • The couple got into argument after performance Saturday night
  • Woman left the vehicle and Swann reportedly chased after her

Rich Swann, 26, was driving with his wife, Vannarah Riggs, who is also a wrestler, after a performance Saturday night.

Police say the two got into an argument when Swann started criticizing Riggs' performance.

Riggs got of the vehicle because she was afraid the argument would escalate, according to an arrest affidavit.

Swann reportedly stopped his vehicle in the middle of traffic and chased after his wife, according to police.

A witness told police Swann put the woman in a headlock and forced her back into the vehicle as she screamed for help.

The witness also told police the woman was beating on the window and screaming for help as Swann drove away.

Swann denied forcing his wife into the car, police said.

WWE suspended Swann and released a statement on Twitter:

“WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence and per our policy, Rich Swann has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.”

The couple resides in Orlando.
