President Trump gave a celebratory speech Wednesday afternoon after Congress passed a more than $1 trillion tax bill, a major victory for the Trump administration.

"We are making America great again," he reiterated during his speech.

During his speech, Trump stated the bill is the largest tax cut in U.S. history and that the bill almost repeals Obamacare.

"We're bringing the entrepreneur back into this country," Trump said.

Trump went on to thank many people who were involved in the tax reform bill.

Mike Pence also spoke Wednesday, thanking the American citizens for allowing the Trump Administration to make history.

"President Trump is a man of his word, a man of action. President Trump delivered today," Pence said.

After midnight on Wednesday, the Senate passed the Republicans' sweeping tax system overhaul and more than 12 hours later, the House passed it again in their second vote.

Republicans voted 224 in favor of the vote, while 12 within the GOP voted against. The majority of the Democrats, 189, voted against the tax bill.

The bill will now go to President Donald Trump's desk.

In a re-vote due to a last-minute hiccup, the House passed the massive $1.5 trillion tax package that affects everyone’s taxes but is dominated by breaks for business and higher earners. Democrats call the legislation a boon to the rich that leaves middle-class and working Americans behind.

The Senate voted after midnight Wednesday along party lines and passed the bill 51-48. Protesters interrupted with chants of “kill the bill, don’t kill us,” and Vice President Mike Pence repeatedly called for order. Upon passage, Republicans cheered, with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin among them.

The legislation is the most sweeping overhaul of the government's tax system since the 1980s.

The House had already passed the tax plan Tuesday, 227-203, but has to vote again after the Senate added a few provisions. Three provisions in the bill, including its title, violated Senate rules, forcing the Senate to vote to strip them out.

The president's Director of Social Media Dan Scavino wished everyone a Merry "Tax Cut" Christmas, about to meet the administration's goal of getting the bill passed before Christmas Day.

Trump weighed in on Twitter.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the benefits of the tax overhaul would be twofold.

"We believe that this product will do two extremely important things for the country: No. 1, provide middle-class tax relief, and No. 2, provide business changes that make us more competitive."

Democratic New York Sen. Chuck Schumer disagreed.

Democrats called the bill a giveaway to corporations and the wealthy, with no likelihood that business owners will use their gains to hire more workers or raise wages.

Nonpartisan watchdog groups say the bill will increase the huge national debt. House Speaker Paul Ryan said the GOP is willing to risk running up deficits with the aim of getting a higher annual economic growth rate.

The legislation repeals an important part of the 2010 health care law — the requirement that all Americans carry health insurance or face a penalty — as the GOP looks to unravel the law it failed to repeal and replace this past summer. It also allows oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
