  • Wedgefield area without water Friday afternoon
  • Orange County Public Schools says problem stems from Pluris water plant
  • Pluris says it is aware of the situation

Wedgefield residents reported to News 13 Friday that they had been without water since 1 p.m.

In addition, Wedgefield School, a K-8 public school in the area, was without water in the afternoon. Bathrooms could not be used at the school, which affected after-school care.

Orange County Public Schools says the problem stems from the Pluris water plant.

Pluris is the private water company that handles water and sewer for the Wedgefield community.

A Pluris customer servce representative said the company was aware of the situation and field crews were working on it, but did not provide more information.

The Pluris project manager has not yet returned our phone call.

Wedgefield residents over the last year have waged a campaign to get Orange County to buy the Pluris plant and handle water service.

The county says Pluris is not interested in selling the plant.
