An Orlando man was arrested and charged Friday for a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the accident occurred at Lake Underhill Road and Dean Road in Orange County around 7:11 p.m. Friday. 

Troopers said Selgio Alvarado, 25, was traveling east on Lake Underhill Road when Bobby Rainey, 67, attempted to cross the street and walked into the path of Alvarado. 

Alvarado hit Rainey with his Honda and took off, troopers said. 

Rainey was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. 

Troopers said as they were securing the area, Alvarado returned to the scene with his family. 

He was arrested and charged with hit-and-run with serious bodily harm or death and driving while license suspended. 

The investigation is ongoing.
