A 44-year-old man has been charged in the attempted child abduction of a 10-year-old girl Sunday outside of a Wal-Mart in Osceola County, deputies said.

Luis Davila-Quinones, of Osceola County, is charged with attempted kidnapping. He was taken into custody Thursday night and was later booked into the Osceola County Jail.

The incident happened in broad daylight March 19 at the store located at 904 Cypress Parkway in Poinciana. The man opened his car door and ordered a 10-year-old inside, deputies said.

Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson said Thursday night that businesses in the area of the store helped detectives make breaks in the case to establish probable cause.

The girl was able to positively identify the suspect in a photo lineup.

Gibson said Davila-Quinones ordered the girl in both Spanish and English to get into his vehicle, but the girl ran back inside the store.

The investigation is ongoing, but Gibson did say additional charges are possible.

Gibson said detectives weren't able to locate a previous criminal history for Davila-Quinones. The sheriff also said it's possible there could be other victims.

"He's being cooperative, so it's helping us establish a strong case," Gibson said.
