The Florida Senate narrowly passed a bill (SB 106) Thursday morning allowing grocery stores, big box retailers and other stores to sell liquor in the same building as other merchandise.
Under current rules, liquor must be sold in a side store separated by a wall.
According to the Distilled Spirits Council, Florida would become the 28th state to allow the sale of liquor alongside wine and beer.
The Senate passed the bill 21-17. The legislation must also pass the House, where an identical bill is waiting for a vote.
