It happened at about 9 a.m. at Penn Station.

The city fire department said two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

According to Amtrak, Acela Express Train 2151 had a "minor derailment" as it was departing the platform at Penn Station.

All 248 passengers got out of the train and into the station safely, the company said.

"We all walked through the train, and there were Amtrak personnel directing us along the way, and we exited out the back of the car and now we're trying to find our way home," a passenger told NY1.

New Jersey Transit said rail service was suspended in and out of Penn Station as a result.
