A Marion County Sheriff's Office deputy saw Trey Turner, 25, run a stop sign Saturday night at the intersection of Highway 314 and Highway 314A. The vehicle then began to travel "at a high rate of speed," deputies said.

The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but Turner fled the area. The chase continued south on Highway 314 before Turner lost control of the vehicle and crashed. The vehicle rolled onto its roof.

Turner wasn't injured in the crash, deputies said.

However, when the deputy looked inside the vehicle, he saw what appeared to be a pipe bomb inside. Turner confirmed it was a pipe comb and "that the car was loaded with C4 explosives," a report states.

The deputy removed Turner from the vehicle and detained him. Turner, according to a report, then told the deputy that he "was sent by the KGB) to take out the world and that (deputies) needed to be careful or (deputies) would die also."

The Sheriff's Office's bomb squad responded to the scene and confirmed the bomb was a destructive device. Deputies didn't find any additional explosives in the vehicle. The bomb was destroyed at the scene.

Deputies determined the vehicle Turner was driving had been reported stolen during a carjacking case in Leesburg.

Turner is charged with possessing or attempt to make an explosive device, resisting officer — fleeing and eluding law enforcement with lights and siren active, driving while license suspended and possession of a control substance (alprazolam).
