New documents detail the minute-by-minute account of the Pulse nightclub shooting.

These nearly 80 pages are part of a presentation Orlando Police Chief John Mina is giving to other police departments across the nation.

It is meant to serve as a lesson for other departments. Within the documents are photos, diagrams and even a timeline that shows what happened in the early morning hours of June 12, which left 49 dead and dozens injured.

Breakdown of the attack

The timeline starts at 2:02 a.m.

  • The gunman, Omar Mateen, walks into Pulse armed with a military-style rifle and opens fire on the main dance floor. About a minute and 20 seconds later, the first officer arrives on the scene.

  • At 2:15 a.m., Orlando Police Department officers and Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies enter the main dance floor.

  • They start pulling as many victims as they can get out of the nightclub.

  • At 2:40 a.m., the gunman makes his first call to 911.

  • At 5:02 a.m., officers use explosives to try to force their way into the nightclub. They tried several times to get in, but they were never able to breach the wall.

  • 5:15 a.m., Mateen fires numerous rounds toward SWAT members.

The SWAT team exchanges fire and killed him, but not before a bullet strikes a SWAT member's helmet, which saved his life.
