Two former teachers at Ocoee High School have been arrested, accused of committing sex acts with the same student.

  • Chad Coy, Ryan Kirkpatrick arrested in the past week
  • Both accused of sex acts with same student at Ocoee High School
  • Both have been on administrative leave since November 2016

Research Critical Thinking teacher Chad Coy, 27, was arrested Wednesday on charges of committing a sexual act with a 16 or 17-year-old girl. Math teacher Ryan Kirkpatrick, 26, was arrested on the same charges on Friday.

The case stems from incidents that reportedly occurred between September and October of last year.

The student told investigators the incidents happened on school grounds and involved touching and oral sex, according to a charging affidavit. She also said both teachers knew she was involved with them.

A student at Ocoee High School knew Kirkpatrick and said he was always a nice teacher.

"He actually used to go to this school, too," Connor Haugen saud. "He was one of the first teachers to come back and work at the school as a teacher, and no one really suspected him to do anything like that."

Kirkpatrick has bonded out of jail and already entered a not guilty plea. Coy remains in jail.

The Orange County School District said both teachers have been on administrative leave since Nov. 1 and have not been on any county public school campus.

The school district issued this statement Thursday:

"The district has been cooperating fully with law enforcement and will continue to do so. We take these allegations very seriously. Student safety is our top priority."
