Here's the Central Florida weather forecast for the upcoming weekend:

  • Taste of summer this weekend
  • Above average, 80s and 90s across Central Florida
  • Heat index Friday close to triple digits

We’re getting a little taste of summer the next several days, with highs climbing well above average into the upper 80s and lower to mid-90s across central Florida. We may even flirt with record highs in a few locations. Be sure to drink plenty of water, don’t overexert yourself outside, and take breaks if you’re in the intense heat.

The flow around this high is coming out of the south to southeast, which is also drawing up more moisture.

Hot and steamy conditions take us through the weekend, with highs in the upper 80s along the east coast and lower to even middle 90s inland. We’ll see a mix of sun and just a few clouds, but no rain to quell our expanding moderate to severe drought. The next chance for any rain may not arrive until next Tuesday and Wednesday now as a front nears from the northeast.

In the overnight hours through the weekend, areas of brush fire smoke may settle and create visibility issues.

Poor to fair conditions in the surf again Friday, as our windswell, swell mix remains rather small. Wave heights will be about the same as yesterday, climbing to waist high at times.

Yellow flags will be flying along the coast, as the rip current threat stays moderate into the upcoming weekend. The UV index is forecast to be very high, so sunscreen is a must in the intense Florida sun.

An isolated shower cannot be completely ruled out for Wednesday as winds continue off of the Atlantic. Most will be dry with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures. Highs inland will be in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees and mid to low 80s along the coast. Not much will change for the rest of the week as temperatures continue to warm up even more. A system is expected to move through early next week and will hopefully bring some much needed rain.
