April will come to an end this weekend, and hopefully May will bring some much-needed rain. Central Florida is about to exit the driest April on record since 1896.

Here's the Central Florida weather forecast for the weekend ahead:

  • Driest April on record since 1896
  • Windy conditions, highs around 90 this weekend
  • Rain will hold off until early next workweek
  • SEE BELOW: See our 7-day forecast

Warm temperatures started out our Friday, and we heated up quite a bit for the afternoon. Highs were in the mid 90s inland and around 90 degrees along the coast under mostly sunny skies. Plenty of sunshine will stick around this weekend with rain staying out of the forecast.

With a decent breeze off of the Atlantic Ocean, temperatures will back down slightly, but it will still be pretty hot. A few showers start to show back up early next workweek.

Both Saturday and Sunday will hold mostly sunny skies and hot temperatures. Highs will climb to around 90 degrees, slightly less than Friday due to strong winds out of the east. Rain will hold off until early next workweek as a slight chance moves in on Monday.

We have a couple of systems next week that will allow for at least a chance several days. We definitely need the rain with rainfall totals in a deficit all over Central Florida to end the month of April.

You may want to head to the beach this weekend to beat the heat. Keep in mind that the water will be a bit choppy and there is an elevated rip current threat.

An isolated shower cannot be completely ruled out for Wednesday as winds continue off of the Atlantic. Most will be dry with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures. Highs inland will be in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees and mid to low 80s along the coast. Not much will change for the rest of the week as temperatures continue to warm up even more. A system is expected to move through early next week and will hopefully bring some much needed rain.
