A new salon in Winter Garden is offering free hair services to women in need. The woman running the nonprofit was once struggling herself, but she has now turned her life around and is making sure to give back to the community.

Sometimes life is filled with dead ends, or at least it feels that way. Jennifer Grogan dropped out of school, got hooked on drugs and ended up in jail a few years ago.

“My life’s totally changed,” says the woman behind the scissors at Inner Beauty Ministry. “Because people are very receptive when they get in this chair. They’re receptive because they don't feel the stress of this is a $200-hair job. Whatever the Lord puts in their heart, if they want to donate, if they can’t that's OK.”

Grogan's clients are women who like her, have also faced struggles. She said the goal is to provide her services free of charge to make them feel beautiful and along the way share the word of God, the one thing she says changed her life for the better.

Romita Harris was her first client and now continues to come over for makeovers.

“Being a single mom on a budget, you can't always get your hair done,” Harris said. “So by her doing it by donations, it’s pretty much heaven sent. So I can come get my trims and keep the bills paid also.”

Grogan is running this non-profit out of iStudios Salons in Orlando, but hopes to one day expand by getting a bigger location and having more stylists donate their time. To help women sweep their mistakes away and learn to grow from them.

“It’s just fellowship and family, and we want as many people to come as possible and learn of the goodness of God,” Grogan added.
