Over 80 agencies will take part in an emergency training exercise Thursday, and officials want to make sure the public knows about it.

  • Training exercise across 4 counties Thursday
  • Simulates emergency response to terror attack
  • Involves over 80 agencies

It's being called the largest emergency training exercise ever organized in Florida.

The exercise will simulate a "complex coordinated terrorist attack taking place in Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties," according to the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council.

The council says the agencies will be practicing tasks that were identified in the aftermath of the Pulse Nightclub attack.

It'll largely be staged in specific areas, along with nearby hospitals:

  • Barnett Park on West Colonial Drive in Orlando
  • Seminole State College on Weldon Boulevard in Sanford
  • Seminole County Fire Department Training on Valentine Way in Longwood
  • Institute of Public Safety on Lane Park Cutoff, Tavares
  • Kissimmee Civic Center on Dakin Avenue
  • 320 Beaumont in Kissimmee

The exercise will involve:

  • 26 hospitals
  • 16 law enforcement agencies
  • 16 fire departments
  • Four health departments
  • Two ambulance services
  • Fire emergency management offices
  • The Medical Examiner's Office for Orange and Osceola counties
  • University of Central Florida
  • Orange County Public Schools
  • Lynx
  • Central Florida Healthcare Coalition

Other agencies will be involved as well, along with 1,200 live volunteer victims, who will be moulaged, meaning they'll be wearing make-up and have movie props to simulate injuries.

The East Central Florida Regional Planning Council is notifying the public so that there is no undue concern or panic.
