It is Memorial Day Weekend and Central Florida is going to see some great weather:

  • Temperatures climb into the mid-90s
  • No rain for the weekend forecast
  • Boating conditions favorable
  • Extreme UV level

What a fairly pleasant Friday, with lots of sun and highs either side of 90. The dry air in place made it feel better than a typical 90-degree day in Florida.

We'll enjoy another comfortable night with lows in the 60s, but begin a very hot stretch taking us through the holiday weekend. Highs climb well into the 90s through Tuesday.

Weak high pressure allowed a very dry airmass to settle across Central Florida, bringing our dew points down and giving us a sunny sky Friday.

This airmass will stay in place Saturday thanks to a northwest flow, but moisture slowly increases Sunday into next week, so muggy conditions return. Temps are set to soar this holiday weekend, with interior areas in the mid-90s and coastal communities in the low 90s from tomorrow through Tuesday.

Combine dry air and mid-90s Saturday, and fire weather conditions are expected. A fire weather watch is in place for inland counties. As a south to southeast flow develops by mid-week, shower and storm chances will increase along sea breeze interactions. We'll go 30 percent rain chances by Wednesday, and 40 percent Thursday and Friday.

Poor surfing conditions are in the forecast right through the holiday weekend, as an east-southeast trade windswell and wave heights a low one to two feet keep things a little flatter than our surfers would enjoy. We’re also keeping the moderate rip risk the next several days, so swim near a lifeguard stand.

The UV index will be extreme this weekend. That means without protection, you have a very good chance of getting a sunburn in short order, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
