First-hand accounts from witnesses and first responders in newly-released Markeith Loyd murder case documents shed light into how the state is building its case against Loyd.

Loyd is accused in the killings of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon, and Orlando Police Lt. Debra Clayton.

Almost four dozen documents were released by the State Attorney's Office in the Fifth Judicial Circuit. Some of the 44 discovery documents have previously been released, but others had not been seen by the public before. Those include search warrant documents, Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports and even transcribed witness interviews.

One document in the batch is a transcription of an interview between a witness to the shooting of Clayton and a detective. The woman is a worker at the Wal-Mart on John Young Parkway in Orlando where Clayton was shot and killed and was outside of the store at the time.

The officer asks the woman what happened during the exchange of gunfire with Clayton and the shooter. The woman tells the detective that she saw Clayton fall to the ground. She says the shooter walked up to her, and the woman says she thought the gunman shot three to four more times down at Clayton.

A few pages later, the woman describes going over to try to help Clayton. The worker says she thought Clayton was trying to talk but couldn't because of her injuries.

This woman ended her interview by saying, "I just wished she had survived.... I looked at her take her last breath."

Also included in the documents released Thursday are interviews with first responders who showed up at the Wal-Mart as well as those who helped arrest Loyd.

State Attorney Brad King is seeking the death penalty in the case against Loyd.
