Two congregations in Pine Hills joined together this weekend, a symbol of change for both churches.

  • Powers Drive Baptist Church moving to new location
  • New Life Church getting Power Drive church building
  • 2 churches held a joint service

New Life Church and Powers Drive Baptist Church held a special joint service Sunday.

Powers Drive Church is moving to a new location, and New Life Church is moving into that building.

"The Church that's taking over will be able to reach more people for Christ here and do more than Powers Drive could, so it's God's will," said Steve Turner.

"It is really gracious for Powers Drive Baptist Church to hand this over to us," said Tangela Thomas. "It's an opportunity for them to also impact the community in which they're moving, but I think it is a selfless act for that church."

After 54 years of servicing the Pine Hill community, Powers Drive Baptist Church is moving to another location. It was the oldest and last remaining Caucasian congregation in the area.
