A death investigation is underway after a fire destroyed a two-story home in Malabar, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said.
The fire started sometime around 10:30 a.m. at a home on Atz Road.
Residents said they heard several loud popping sounds and saw flames coming from the house.
Due to the damage the house sustained, deputies have not been able to retrieve the victim’s body.
Brevard County Fire Rescue responded to the fire.
