OJ Simpson will be a free man again.

Simpson, 70, was granted parole Thursday from a Nevada state parole board, after spending nearly nine years in prison for armed robbery.

The four members of the parole board heard testimony from Simpson by video conference. They also heard testimony from Simpson's daughter and the victim in the armed robbery, Bruce Fromong, a sports memorabilia dealer.

Fromong said Simpson had apologized to him and he accepted the apology.

Fromong said he and Simpson had been friends for years and that nine years was way too long for the former football and movie star to be behind bars.

"Juice, I'll be here tomorrow for you," Fromong told Simpson.

The parole board acknowledged that Simpson had kept a clean prison record, and reminded him he was required to do the same once on parole.

Simpson was arrested for trying to take back sports memorabilia in a Las Vegas hotel room. He was convicted in 2008.

Fromong said he believed Simpson had been misled about what was going to be at the hotel for Simpson to recover.

Simpson told the parole board that he is sorry "that things turned out the way they did" and he'd had no intent to commit a crime.

Simpson will be released in October.

The parole board said Simpson requested to live with family in Florida.

Where in Florida might O.J. land?

We spoke to a friend of Simpson's, Tom Scotto, about where in Florida Simpson might settle, assuming his request is granted.

"We're not sure," said Scotto. "We're talking about different options."

One area Scotto believes Simpson has ruled out is the Bay area.

"No, he's not doing that," said Scotto. "He's not going to bring this media circus to his kids. He wants to spend time with his kids."

We did reach out to Simpson's two children who live in the Bay area, but they each declined to comment for this story. His daughter Sydney's neighbor on Coquina key, Katrener Speights, said Simpson would be welcome in the neighborhood.

"It's ok with me," said Speights. "I don't know about what everybody else thinks, but it would be cool with me."
