News 13 honors Project Weather Scholarship winners

News 13 celebrated the winners of the Project Weather Scholarship contest on Monday night.

Chief meteorologist Bryan Karrick and meteorologist Mallory Nicholls presented each of the graduating seniors a certificate, a backpack filled with goodies and a $1,000 scholarship.

Winners had to excel in science, in addition to volunteering in the community and taking part in extracurricular activities at school.

The scholarship is granted as a part of News 13’s commitment to furthering science education.

The winners are:

  • Nicholas McCreary — Homeschool, Brevard County
  • Akylah Cox — Dr. Phillips High School, Orange County
  • Samantha Maybury — Seminole High School, Seminole County
  • Jacob Mosley — Vanguard High School, Marion County
  • Kaitlyn O’Malley — Osceola County School for the Arts, Osceola County
  • Erica Zevallos-Flagler — Palm Coast High School, Flagler County
  • Lea Gray — Seabreeze High School, Volusia County
  • Melody Dove — South Lake High School, Lake County
